This weekend is the 33rd annual Powell Street Festival, Vancouver’s annual celebration of Japanese Canadian arts, culture and heritage. Featuring dance, music, visual arts, martial arts demos, and, of course, tons of delicious Japanese food (including cheap sushi!), this free, two-day festival has something for everyone!

The Powell Street Festival is August 1 – 2, in Woodland Park at 700 Woodland Drive.

Vancouver’s 2009 Pride Celebration has been in full swing since July 25, but the big climax is this weekend: The enormous–and enormously popular—Vancouver Pride Parade & Festival.

Attracting over 500,000 people last year, the annual Pride Parade through downtown Vancouver is a stunning display of diversity, creativity, artistry, and community.
