Since yesterday we were taking it back, I thought today we might take it to the future!

The Vancouver Aquarium‘s new 4D Experience is certainly futuristic, and a new way to experience those nature reels in a dynamic and entertaining (as well as educational) way.

Last night saw the grand opening of the first 4D theatre in Western Canada, at our very own Vancouver Aquarium. The film was a 15-minute clip of the BBC’s Planet Earth – Shallow Seas, and the experience was a riot. The Planet Earth series is already mind-boggling, so when you add in a big screen, serious sound, a 3D visual experience (especially scary with sea snakes), plus the unexpected sensory surprises of 4D (spoiler: expect to get a little wet, this is the Shallow Seas after all!) it’s serious fun. The whole theatre was alternately shrieking, laughing, and ooh-ing and ahh-ing.

Included in the price of admission, this new 4D experience will be a great addition to one of Vancouver’s best attractions. I can’t wait to see what shows they bring in next!
