If you’re a member of Vancouver’s Chinese community, chances are good you’re gathering with family this weekend to celebrate the mid-autumn Moon Festival–the 15th day of the eight month of the lunar calendar.
(A Chinese friend recently described it as “the Asian equivalent of Thanksgiving” in that families are strongly expected to come together at that time.)
They’ll be celebrating that ancient harvest holiday and a whole lot more at the inaugural Vancouver Chinese Cultural Festival on the Plaza of Nations in downtown Vancouver this weekend.
I was briefly on site to help a friend set up a display and it looks like it’ll be a lively weekend of fun with a strong emphasis on Chinese art, music, culture–and delicious food.
