The Olympic Line Streetcar
Vancouver’s newest transit line has opened, just in time for the Olympics.
The new Olympic Line Streetcar travels between Granville Island and the Olympic Station of the underground CanadaLine – a short, quick and free trip.
The streetcars are on loan from Brussels, courtesy of Bombardier. The 1.8 km distance is covered in just a few minutes, at speeds of up to 50 km/hr. Mid-way through the journey, the two streetcars cross each other along the short route. The streetcar is fully accessible for strollers and wheelchairs – easy on and off onto the door-level platforms.

If you love scuba diving, or would love to learn more about it, the Vancouver Aquarium is the place to be this weekend.
This weekend is the 11th annual Divers Weekend at the Aquarium, co-hosted by the Vancouver Aquarium and the Dive Industry Association of B.C. Divers get 50% off Aquarium admission when they show their dive certification card, but everyone with an interest in diving is welcome.

Looking forward to meeting many people during Vancouver 2010.
One of the most exciting things about telling people about my trip is seeing their reaction after I’ve told someone for the first time where I am going. Their entire face lights up and they always say some kind of version of “That is so amazing. You are going to have such a good time”. It’s hard to put into words how happy they look and all the nice things that have been said to me. I’m excited that so many are excited for me that I am going on this trip. It will be unlike any experience that I’ve ever had and I intend to enjoy every second of it. I feel like I’m experiencing this trip for all those who won’t be there. Hopefully through my blogs and pictures, they’ll get a feel for what Olympic fever is like in Vancouver.
