Caribbean Days Festival – This Weekend!

Don’t forget to get on down to the Caribbean Days Festival happening this weekend on both Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of July!

The Trinidad & Tobago Cultural Society of BC presents the Caribbean Days Festival annually. Prepare for a weekend of parading, dining and dancing in the sunshine (which there will be lots of this weekend, according to the weather man).

The festival kicks off with a street parade taking place on the Saturday at 10am. It begins at Victoria Park and ends up at Waterfront Park. The parade runs for about 1.5 hours and the streets will come alive during this time with the sights and sounds of costumed revellers. What a great way to appreciate Caribbean culture and style before making your way to the actual festival.

The festival grounds are split into two areas – the first being filled with food and beverage where you can enjoy spicy Caribbean food (roti, jerk chicken, Jamaican patties and much, much more!) and relax with an ice cold drink in the sun. The second section is where dancers and other entertainers will entertain the crowds with Reggae, Calypso, Latin and other amazing international sounds.

The festival is free to attend, open to all ages and is being held at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver. Check out Dana’s recent post for directions and public transit info.
