The annual Powell Street Festival—a celebration of the arts, culture and heritage of Japanese Canadians—is back for its 34th year this weekend, Saturday, July 31 – Sunday, August 1. It’s perfect timing: You can enjoy the free festival Saturday, where you can gorge yourself on delicious Japanese food, then head to the last night of the Celebration of Light Fireworks—how’s that for a perfect Vancouver weekend?!

A local favourite, the Powell Street Festival is full of fun for the whole family, with live music, martial arts and Sumo displays, live performance and dance, theatre, literary events, kids’ activities, a Urasenke Tea Ceremony, and much more.
