Summer in Vancouver is such a fantastic place for music fans. Not only do our local bands rock, summer is the season for music festivals, from June’s Vancouver International Jazz Festival to July’s Vancouver Folk Music Festival to August’s MusicFest Vancouver.

MusicFest Vancouver (formerly Festival Vancouver) is an annual festival of classical, jazz and world music, featuring everything from large ensembles to stellar solo performances, as well as free educational sessions. Best of all, MusicFest brings its concerts to nine of Vancouver’s best venues, including VanDusen Botanical Garden (an amazing summer music venue), Cellar Jazz Club, and the CULTCH.

Because this year is its 10th anniversary, MusicFest 2010 will be bringing back favourite local and international artists throughout its anniversary-themed schedule. Also up this year: a spotlight on Australia, which brings some of Australia’s finest classical, jazz and world musicians to Vancouver for the first time.
