The West End’s FREE and famous annual Davie Day Street Festival happens this Saturday, September 11, and this year’s festival is packed with family fun.

Every year, Davie Day turns a portion of downtown Vancouver’s Davie Street—between Burrard and Broughton Streets—into a mini-fair / carnival, with loads of street vendors, live music and dance, kids’ activities, stilt walkers, horses, and food from some of the West End’s best eateries.

This year, Davie Day has eight “zones” to explore: Community, KidZone, Arts & Culture, Heritage, Lifestyle, Doggy, Sustainability, and Relax. I’m totally excited about the Heritage Zone, which will feature old-fashioned lollipops, a photographer taking turn-of-the-century pictures, costumes, The Sylvia Hotel, and “authentic” blacksmith demonstrations.

Davie Day 2010 runs from 12pm – 7pm, September 11, rain or shine.
