3 years ago Landsea Tours and Adventures – a locally owned and operated sightseeing company – started the Stuff The Bus Charity Drive. In the first three years of this awesome event they have filled ELEVEN of their busses full of clothing and blankets for Vancouver’s Homeless Transitional Shelters operated by St James Community Service Society. Last year alone, they filled SIX busses.
If you are a local and have any blankets or warm clothes to donate, just give them a call at 604.255.7272 and they will come pick it up. Better yet, put a sign up in your building/dorm/laundry room and get together a collection. The weather gods have decreed we are going to have a cold winter this year – everything you donate will be put to very good use!
To cap off the Stuff The Bus Charity Drive there is a concert being held on Thursday October 21st at the what I believe is one of the most poorly named venues in Vancouver – Venue (881 Granville Street). Presented by 99.3 the FOX and Landsea Tours and Adventures featuring local artists Goodbye Beatdown , The Town Pants and David Blair.
I can’t personally speak to Goodbye Beatdown or David Blair, but I can definitely vouch for the awesomeness of the Town Pants who I used to see every Sunday night at a now defunct pub in North Vancouver. SO MUCH FUN. One of my friends actually broke his foot dancing to them……..
Tickets are on sale now through Clubzone – $20 if you buy in advance, $22 if you get them at the door. Note this is a 19+ venue so make sure you leave the kids at home and bring 2 pieces of ID.
This is a great cause! See you there?
