I had such a great time last year at the annual Ocean Wise Chowder Chowdown that it is truly a pleasure to recommend this unique—and uniquely delicious—foodie event: The Ocean Wise Chowder Chowdown is your chance to sample gourmet seafood chowders created by 12 of Vancouver’s top chefs, each paired with its own B.C. craft beer, and enjoy the magic of the Vancouver Aquarium at night while you dine. (Since I was pregnant last year, I’m looking forward to being able to enjoy the beer pairings this time!)
The 12 Vancouver chefs participating this year—and competing for the title of Best Sustainable Seafood Chowder on the West Coast—are top chefs at many of Vancouver’s most famous restaurants, including Dennis Peckham, Executive Chef at COAST, Chef Chris Whittaker from O’Doul’s Restaurant & Bar, and Chef Todd Bright from Wild Rice. Just imagine their genius takes on seafood chowder!
The B.C. craft beer pairings—each beer is selected to compliment the savory or spicy or sweet chowder it’s paired with—include Russell Brewing Company, Howe Sound Brewing, and Driftwood Brewery.
The 2010 Ocean Wise Chowder Chowdown is this Wednesday, November 24, from 7pm – 10pm. Go hungry so you can try all 12 chowders!
