On a drizzly Sunday afternoon I hopped off the Trolley at Stop #6, the Quality Inn. I started my venture at the Yale Hotel, a local favorite for nightly jazz and blues with a strong Vancouver history. The Yale was originally a CPR bunkhouse back in the 1880s and continued throughout the decades as a popular community meeting place. Today it not only houses live music nightly (please note this establishment is 19+), billiards tables and multiple TVs for sports, but is home to a recording studio as well.
I walked across the street to visit another local Vancouver treasure, White Spot Restaurant. White Spot was started by Vancouverite Nat Bailey (which is the name of our baseball team, the Vancouver Canadians’ stadium, as well) with a drive-in concept back in the 1920s. Very few White Spots still have drive-ins at the back of their restaurant, but all offer a family dining experience. While famous for their burgers that come with a pickle on top and children’s ‘Pirate Packs’, my favorite thing to order at White Spot is the Butterscotch Milkshake. Make sure you look at the receipt after ordering this one as the name for it is quite cute.

After enjoying my burger and shake I walked a block down to Hornby and Pacific, where The Art Knapp Urban Garden is found. This nursery used to only house beautiful plants and flowers but is now a one-stop-shop for almost everything you can imagine. I anticipated to pick up just a plant for my office but ended up leaving with clothing, too! Urban Garden now features a store-front with a boutique for both women and men, various housewares and knick-knacks for around the home as well as the houseplants and tropical flowers that put them on the map.

With my arms full of new goodies for the home and office, I hopped back on the Trolley to visit Stop #7…
