Vancouver Olio Festival – September 22 – 25, 2011

Back for its third year, the 2011 Olio Festival is a four-day celebration of music, art, comedy, skate and film that brings together both local and international talent for 30+ events at venues around Vancouver.

A unique festival of fresh perspectives, the Olio Festival features musical performances by Mascis of Dinosaur JR, Glass Candy, Chromatics, Ladyhawk, Cave Singers, Teen Daze, AraabMuzik, Bend Sinister, Bonjay, Braids, The Pack AD, Keys N Krates, Besnard Lakes, Malajube, Chicharones, Revolver, Chateau Marmont, Active Child, Chad Valley, Com Truise, as well as over 50 local Vancouver bands.

Highlights of the Festival’s arts programming include a Patrick O’Dell art show at Antisocial Skateboard Shop (with the artist in attendance),  OBEY Clothing Group Art Show featuring prints and works by Shepard Fairey, and the locally-produced HERE IS NOW and NIGHT VISION art events, which showcase Vancouver’s own up-and-coming talent.

For film, Olio2011 offers a Director’s Master Class & Q+A with Tommy Wiseau, the director of the cult film “The Room,” a “48 Hour Film Contest,” and the return of the Olio Festival Music Video Contest.

There’s comedy, too: Olio2011 features performances by Rain City Chronicles, Bronx Cheer and The Party (creators of ShitHarperDid.com and “The Party” CTV Web Series), plus a “Classic Comedic Roast” of Vancouver’s Mayor Gregor Robertson at the 560 Club on Thursday, September 22.

Find a complete schedule of Olio Festival 2011 events at the site, as well as ticket information; tickets for many events are under $15.

The Vancouver 2011 Olio Festival runs from September 22 – 25.
