VIFF 2011 – Vancouver International Film Festival Starts September 29

The mother of all Vancouver film festivals is back for 2011: the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) starts this Thursday, September 29.

One of the five largest film festivals in North America, VIFF is renowned as one of the biggest showcases for Canadian film in the world and for screening the largest selection of East Asian films outside of that region. Over its two-week span, VIFF will screen 360 films from 80 countries, spanning subjects from Canadian Images, Arts & Letters, and Cinema of Our Time to Dragons & Tigers and Nonfiction Features.

VIFF 2011 will be bigger and better than ever as this fabulous film fest celebrates its 30th anniversary! Along with the movies, VIFF hits the red carpet with five Gala events, each of which include a film screening followed by a dress-up-and-meet-the-stars after-party (ticket info at the links):

Cinephiles can also get an in-depth look at the industry—plus a chance to network with cinema heavyweights—at the the VIFF Film and TV Forum, from September 27 – 30, 2011.

Find a complete schedule of VIFF 2011′s films, as well as ticket information, at the official site.

The 30th Anniversary Vancouver International Film Festival runs from September 29 – October 14, 2011.
