The mother of all Vancouver film festivals is back for 2011: the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) starts this Thursday, September 29.
One of the five largest film festivals in North America, VIFF is renowned as one of the biggest showcases for Canadian film in the world and for screening the largest selection of East Asian films outside of that region. Over its two-week span, VIFF will screen 360 films from 80 countries, spanning subjects from Canadian Images, Arts & Letters, and Cinema of Our Time to Dragons & Tigers and Nonfiction Features.
VIFF 2011 will be bigger and better than ever as this fabulous film fest celebrates its 30th anniversary! Along with the movies, VIFF hits the red carpet with five Gala events, each of which include a film screening followed by a dress-up-and-meet-the-stars after-party (ticket info at the links):
- Opening Gala on September 29, 2011
- Canadian Images Gala on September 30, 2011
- Dragons & Tigers Awards Gala on October 6, 2011
- Anniversary Gala on October 7, 2011
- Closing Gala on October 14, 2011
