Hometown: Tiny little Stonewall, Manitoba
How long have you been a Vancouverite? 5 glorious years
I’m the owner and Chief Chocolatiere at CocoaNymph Chocolates & Confections. We hand craft artisanal truffles, bars and candy in our funky chocolate cafe and studio.
Favourite place in the city: I love Jericho Beach!
Best way to spend a Saturday in the city:
I love wandering through Gastown with my camera, stopping at Fluevog to try on shoes, and Opus to gaze at art supplies, and at any one of the amazing restaurants in that neighbourhood for lunch and a cocktail.
Favourite Vancouver artist/gallery/band/restaurant:
I’m a big fan of the crazy critter paintings of Kristian Adam, (often featured at the beloved Ayden Gallery), and the songstress stylings of the lovely Hilary Grist. My favourite restaurant is my neighbour—the west coast classic Pair Bistro. How could I turn down elk with chocolate cherry jus with just the perfect wine?
Top insider tip for visitors:
If you walk north on Dunbar Street until the street ends and the water begins, there is a long staircase down to English Bay. It has the most amazing water access, with barely a beach. It’s quiet and is insulated from the sounds and lights of the city. You can go there to escape, and watch herons and seals at twilight, any day. It’s a tiny, magical place.
