Not to be missed this winter! Shore, Forest and Beyond: Art from the Audain Collection narrates the rich history of British Columbia art through one of the region’s most expansive private collections, held by Michael Audain and Yoshiko Karasawa. Included in this exclusive exhibition are 170 works loaned by the Audains, as well as a selection of artworks they have donated over the past two decades for the Vancouver Art Gallery’s permanent collection. From historical west coast indigenous art to signature works by contemporary First Nations artists, as well as major works by Canadian artists Emily Carr, Lawren Harris, Frederick Horsman Varley and B.C. Binning, this extensive survey speaks in a rich visual dialogue of place and identity.

I love the restaurant upstairs, especially in the summer! It’s great to be able to see art then take a lunch break with some decent food and beverages and setting. I hope that when the new VAG happens, the current locale can be kept too — kind of like the Tate and the Tate Modern!???

I’d greatly appreciate tickets to the Art Gallery. It’s serene, beautiful, interesting, amazing.. and that’s the building! I’d love to spend hours looking at the art, slowly touring the building, savouring the beauty of the peices.
