Almost two years ago, Metro Vancouver debuted their iParks Explorer App, a mobile guide to Metro Vancouver’s 22 regional parks. At the time, many wondered why there wasn’t a similar app for City of Vancouver Parks. Now there is. Last month, the Vancouver Park Board unveiled their new, free app for iPhone, iPad and iTouch, the Vancouver Parks App.
The new Vancouver Parks app features all of Vancouver’s 200+ city parks, providing information on each park’s amenities and facilities as well as park photos, plus directions for reaching the parks closest to your current location. Users can also search for Vancouver parks by map or by alphabetical order and create lists of personal favourites.
The Vancouver Parks app is available for free download from the iTunes store. If you give it a try, please come back and leave a review—we’d love to hear what you think.

Would love to try both these apps, but I have a smartphone running Android (like an increasing number of Vancouverites). Any word on when we’ll see a compatible app?

Bronwyn,
People often ask this, but it’s really the developers you need to contact to let them know that android users are eager to use their apps, too. You can send feedback (i.e., a request for an android version) to the Vancouver Parks Board here.
