Hometown: Winnipeg, Manitoba
How long have you been a Vancouverite? 3 months
Occupation:
I’m currently exploring my new city and all of the possibilities that go along with that. I was in the hospitality industry in Winnipeg and managed an upscale fusion Japanese restaurant for over five years. I’m now seeking a career change, and would love to expand my passions into interior decorating and fashion.
Favourite Vancouver restaurants:
I am extremely impressed with Vancouver restaurants. I love food—all kinds of food. The following is a list of my favourites so far: Suika, Bao Bei, Italian Kitchen, Phnom Penh, and Vij’s.
Five essential items for a Vancouverite:
A beautiful pair of comfortable boots because you will walk everywhere, a good umbrella because of the rain, a scarf because it’s always a bit windy, a stylish coat because you’ll need it (except for the summertime), and reusable grocery bags to help save the environment and also avoid the 5¢ per plastic bag charge.
Best way to spend $20 in Vancouver:
Go to a barber on Main Street and get a handsome haircut for $16 + $4 tip = $20.
Favourite Vancouver memory: Meeting Guy.
