Take a little barrel-aged Cointreau. Add some roasted almond infused bourbon, some Remy Martin and a splash of ginger beer. And what do you get?
Roaming Buffalo Punch: The official cocktail of the 2012 Tales of the Cocktail on Tour Vancouver festival, Feb. 12-Feb. 15. Started in 2002 in New Orleans, Tales of the Cocktail has grown to become the world’s premier cocktail festival, bringing together elite mixologists and cocktail enthusiasts for fine drinks, cuisine and culture.
This year’s four-day Vancouver festival (a prelude to the big annual bash in New Orleans in July) is headquartered at the elegant waterfront Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel. Highlights include special themed tastings dedicated to artisan distilleries, premium whisky, Hendrick’s gin and Bacardi rum. There will also be opening and closing bashes, a bartenders’ brunch in the hotel’s lavish presidential suite and coffee and liqueur bars.
The event also features prominent bartenders from Vancouver’s thriving cocktail scene, as well as personalities from the world of spirits, like Australia’s Dylan Howarth. Plus, there’s the famous BC Bar Crawl, a wild romp through the city’s top bars featuring custom cocktails mixed up especially for the occasion.
Tickets to Tales of the Cocktail, which include access to all seminars, tasting rooms and parties, are $195. For more information, check out the Tales of the Cocktail website.
