This Week’s Featured Vancouverite: Nikolas Badminton

Hometown: Martock, Somerset, UK

How long have you been a Vancouverite?
I first came here thirteen years ago and eventually moved to Vancouver three and a half years ago.

Occupation:
Director of Digital Strategy at an amazing digital agency called Tribal DDB with talented people that build digital, social and mobile experiences.

Favourite Vancouver bands:
I love the grassroots music scene in town. Two of my favorite bands are from here, Black Mountain and Lightning Dust, and I have a number of friends that play in bands and DJ around town. Everyone should check out The New Values – they’re amazing.

Favourite place in the city:
The Seawall. In the summer, this is an awesome place to meet up with my friends from the Terminal City Rollergirls (Vancouver’s roller derby league) and blast our way round on roller skates.

Top insider tip for visitors:
Hire a bike and get out of downtown to Commercial Drive, Main Street, Gastown, Kitsilano, and other great areas. Check out the locally run eateries and stores – they’re amazing and really display the heart and soul of the city.

  1. Karm Sumal should definitely be featured. He co-run Vancitybuzz.com and has quietly got it to 25,000 twitter followers and 10,000 views a day. This blog covers all the great stuff that happens in Vancouver and people simply love it!

    • Thanks Paul! I’ll send a note his way this week.
