Fanfare, please. Vancouver farmers’ markets return for the summer/fall season that runs from late May to October in five locations throughout Vancouver. Primp your eco shopping bags and wax your bicycle. It’s time to get friendly with BC farmers.

Trout Lake Farmers Market, the biggest baddest Vancouver farmers’ market, opened May 12, in a glorious blaze of sunshine. Kitsilano Farmers Market opens this Sunday, May 20.

But they’re not the only game in town. West End Farmers Market and Main Street Station Farmers Market will kick off in early June, to be joined by the first ever Kerrisdale Farmers Market in July.

Get details on opening dates new vendors, food trucks and market events after the jump.

What’s new at the markets? First and foremost, there’s an entirely new market catering to Kerrisdale folk. In addition to the regular array of local producers, I hear Kaboom Box food truck will be stationed at the Kerrisdale location.

New food truck Pig on the Street will also turn up at the markets as well as an old favourite, Roaming Dragon along with La Boheme Creperie. New market vendors include Provenance Vegan Pate, Earnest Ice Cream and Batchworks Sorbet.

This year, shoppers can also expect Vancouver chef demos – more on that below under Trout Lake. Bike valet returns to the Trout Lake and Kitsilano markets.

I’d heard there was going to be a Farmer’s Market in the parking lots
at 7th and Main St.- definitely more central than Thornton Park.
