It’s market season in Vancouver. Dana covered the recent Chinatown Night Market opening and the battle between the two Richmond Night Markets. I’ve blogged about the slew of Vancouver farmer’s markets openings in late May and early June.

Now it’s time for Portobello West Fashion + Art Market May 26 – 27,  featuring fresh, local talent in a variety of design forms from jewellery to art.

Get the scoop on the newest Portobello West designers after the jump.

Portobello West is a one-stop shopping destination for unique, hand-crafted design in jewellery, clothing, furniture, ceramics, art, and even kids’ toys. No matter how many Portobello West markets I attend, I’m continually impressed by the ever-growing array of BC-based craftsmen that turn up to sell their designs.

Of the new designers at Portobello West this Saturday and Sunday, I’m particularly captivated by Marian + Hazel by Amanda Parker. Parker crafts modern, refined jewellery and visual art (pictured above), using non-traditional, recycled materials in shapes and textures inspired by both nature and technology.

Another new Portobello West vendor to watch is Keltie Leanne Designs (pictured above) by Vancouverite Keltie Maguire, who creates handmade statement jewellery using sterling silver, gold-fill and semi-precious gemstones.

Portobello West takes place May 26 – 27 at Creekside Community Centre from 11am to 5pm.
