Inside Vancouver’s Arts and Entertainment: The Giggle Dam

There are tons of comedy shows in Vancouver, but how many of them include dinner?  Well, The Giggle Dam dinner theatre has nailed down the recipe for a great evening: food and laughs.  Scarf down a four course meal, order up a few cocktails, beers or bottles of wine, and let the Dam cast floor you.

Made up of actors, comedians and musicians, the Dam cast has no shortage of energy.  Musical parodies are a must, quick comedy sketches are a given, a live band is an impressive treat and crowd participation is strongly encouraged.  The Giggle Dam is supplying one of the most interactive comedy experiences in the lower mainland.

If you’ve never been to a comedy show before, don’t worry about feeling uncomfortable.  The Dam staff is exceptionally welcoming from the minute you start your evening, to the minute you leave.

Your Giggle Dam adventure could begin early if you decide to ride the Giggle Bus, which provides transportation to and from the theatre.  Hosted by a cast member, the Giggle Bus is a great preview of what’s in store for the night.

Once you’re shown to your seat, you’ll find an appetizer waiting for you to start off your four course meal.  Whether you’re craving chicken, beef or a particularly delicious salmon, the Dam offers a great selection of food that is also vegetarian-friendly.

Don’t be surprised if cast members visit your table.  The Dam cast doesn’t just wait behind the curtains for the show to start.  They’re out in the audience in full character, chatting up the people and causing a ruckus.  Some of them might even take your order and bring out your food.  Every now and then they’ll jump on stage for a sketch between meals, and get the audience excited about the show.

The show itself is sure to entertain, and it’s not uncommon for a member of the crowd to become part of the show.  The Dam cast loves interacting with the audience and gets as many people involved as they can.  It’s one of the reasons why they’re such a unique live show.

The Dam has been around for over 10 years, and are nowhere near slowing down.  They recently finished up their Spinning with the 80s production and are getting their Christmas show underway.

The Giggle Dam Christmas show, Going Postal for the Holidays, runs from November 16th to December 29th.  Tickets are $55 + tax, and can be purchased in advance with their box office.
