My Gran is 77 yrs old – my great great grandfather came
to Canada from India in 1904 my grandfather and grandmother came in 1925/1927 my Gran was born in
1935 and my Dad her son was born in 1957 and I was born in 1980 and my son was born 2007 – my Gran is
a great grandmother – the first of 11 kids to be given this honor – my son five years old is 6th generation in Canada and also had another son 2010. My Gran has wanted to see for so so so long – after sending emails, telephone calls letters with her picture – because she looks 15 years younger than her age- she finally gave up hope and said
if I can’t see and give Oprah a handshake or hug – for
being the person she is – well she gave up – then being an avid big fan of Tiger Woods she said maybe I could watch him play golf – even after his scandal she never ever gave up on him – always defending. I hope and pray that my Gran gets to see you anyway – she is trying to get a ticket for herself and said she would even pay 400 dollars but she needs and wants to sit in the front row – she wants the best as this is a once in a life time for her. She lost my Granfather two years at the same time lost one sister and

After being unemployed for most of the year, my hope is dwindling. To win tickets to see Oprah would be like winning the lottery.
Oprah was a daily part of my life, and through her show, I grew as a person as she opened my eyes to many new perspectives.
To some, Oprah is a television personality, to me, she is a mentor.

My sister has been trying to get on the Oprah show for over a decade. She’s written letter after letter, called, joined every contest . . . she’s just never had any luck. She actually went as far as mailing Oprah a telephone with a note saying that she cant reach her so she sent Oprah a way to reach her!!
I could not imagine a better way to thank my sister for all she’s done, than to present her with tickets the show. She’s supported me though my whole life and is the ultimate “big sister” and all that entails.

Okay, you might be asking yourself, where is all of this coming to? I promise to try and keep this explanation at a respectable length.
Each individual is faced with the daunting task of “finding themselves” during their lifetime. Since Sunny was young, she subconsciously used Oprah as a catalyst in her journey, not because of her fame or her glamour. But yet because she truly recognized a piece of herself in the eyes of Oprah. She saw the compassion by which Oprah operates for every individual who tunes into her shows, not just the ones who are featured on them. Oprah goes out of her way to present a positive, palpable energy which effects everyone around her, and I truly feel that has been the model by which Sunny has chosen to live her life.
I know, with all of my heart, that Oprah is the biggest influence in the person Sunny is today, outside of her family. I think most can agree that given the chance to meet our idols, we should all reach to the moon and back! In this task, I would love to add my link of open arms to Sunny’s reach, and give her just the added inches to grasp a monumental goal in her life!!

I just celebrated my 40th birthday last week and as I look back Oprah has been a huge part of my life. I a way almost like a mother. Someone I admired and looked up to all these years. Seeing Oprah live would fulfill a lifelong quest for me. I have a long tragic history of not being able to get tickets to Oprahs show. I will share my stories with you. I have relatives living in Chicago, and every few years when I would visit them, I would attempt to get Oprah tickets. The first attempt in 1987, my uncle assured me he would be able to get me tickets to the show. After all, he said, he had been a carpenter working on a reno for one of Oprah’s lawyers. This was it..I was going to see her! When I showed up in Chicago, my uncle sheepishly told me he wasn’t able to get tickets after all. No problem, I thought, I’ll still have plenty of chances to try again. Back to Chicago I went in 1991. This time my uncle didn’t offer to try..but of course I tried my hardest. No luck again. Next came an attempt for my trip in 2003. The Oprah phone lines opened only for a few days every month for ticket reservations. That year I was determined to get tickets. I was unemployed, which meant I could call the ticket phone lines all day until I got through. So, I started calling the moment the lines opened, getting up at 6:00 a.m. to start calling. But the lines were so jammed that I wouldn’t even get a busy signal right away, just a long pause…a moment of hope…then followed by the dreaded busy signal. I tried for 4 hours a day, as this was all the time Oprah’s phone lines were open. Otherwise I would have been trying 8 hours a day. And I called for 3 days straight. By then all the tickets were given away, and the phone lines closed down. Those turned out to be 3 discouraging days. Each day I felt more dejected…placing the call, then always the pause on the other end of the line, and then a busy signal. My hubby had a day off, and he even pitched in and helped by calling too. Of course he only tried for an hour or so, then decided it was useless to continue, and I’m sure privately thought that I was completely nuts for calling non stop. Well, maybe better luck would await me on my next trip to Chicago. In 2005, I was again heading to Chicago, so more desperate attempts were made through emails to get tickets to the show. I attempted to get tickets through emails under my name, my moms name, and even my aunts and cousins names. This time I really felt I had a chance, as the Oprah website released some last minute tickets for a date I would be in Chicago. So I sent an email to the show, explaining it would be my uncle & aunts 50th wedding anniversary, and I would be ecstatic if I could take them to the Oprah show. I thought this would be a sure thing…after all, who wouldn’t give a couple who had been married that long tickets to the show? Well, I didn’t even get a response to my email! This time, my family shared in my defeat…as everyone had gotten excited thinking we’d finally get our chance to see Oprah. My last attempt to get Oprah tickets was in 2010, again with no success. When Oprah announced her show would end, I filled with not only sadness but also anxiety. I was finally out of chances to get Oprah show tickets, and I would never get to see her in person. So I have had over 20 years of trying to get Oprah tickets, almost as long as her show aired. Yes, I have learned so much from her shows over all these years..but seeing her in person would truly fulfill a lifelong dream. Please choose me!

This event couldn’t have come at a better time. Last year on this date was when I was in the hospital with my father when we finally realized he was not going to be coming back home. He passed away month later to be with my mother, leaving me alone in the world . A year later I am still trying piece together back my life, which revolved around mom’s battle with cancer, and then afterwards dad’s failing health and broken heart. Oprah has a way of saying the right things to lift people up and to give them hope. My daughter has just come out of a really bad period in her young life and I thought I would lose her but she’s doing great. The two of us spending an event with such an inspirational speaker whom both of us loved watching would be the icing on a cake. Oprah is such an inspiration, I spend every sunday watching her shows on OWN. She is the one woman I look up to other then my mother. Through the hard situations I’ve gone through in life I’ve gained an amazing work ethic, Oprah gave me the strength to believe anythings possible and to never give up.
