He goes by many names: Saint Nick, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, Sinterklaas, that dude in red… He puts an emphasis on nice behaviour. He prefers sleighs and reindeer to motorized vehicles. He considers cookies dinner. You know whom I’m talking about. It’s Santa.
You may have been confused by the hundreds of Vancouver adults who took to the streets dressed at Santa this weekend at SantaCon 2012. So I’ve made an official Vancouver Santa Guide – a list of places families can visit Santa in and around Vancouver, and get that special holiday photo taken.

Santa at the Granville Island Kids Market, through Dec. 24
The old factory turned kids zone has 30 shops for children, making it an ideal destination to browse with the whole family and then meet Santa, who’s hanging around daily 11am-3:30pm, through Christmas Eve. After that, he’s busy…
Santa’s Workshop at Grouse Mountain’s Peak of Christmas, through Dec. 24
Meet Santa (12-8pm daily) and his reindeer (9am-10pm daily in the WildLife Refuge) to share those holiday wishes. You can also tell him over pancakes at Breakfast with Santa on Grouse. Find ticket deals here.
Bright Nights in Stanley Park, through Jan. 1
His elves decorated the 1000-acre park forest. The big dude himself is also at the breathtaking holiday light display, ready to delight visiting kiddos.

Santa and company will be giving their black boots a workout on the streets of the village (12-4pm) where he will visit every shop and hand out European chocolates. Photo opps are free.

This is the quintessential mall Santa event. Get your photo taken with Santa in the Grand Court, by donation to the Burnaby Christmas Bureau. Daily 11am-1pm, 2-5pm and 6-8pm, except on Sunday’s when it’s 11am-2pm, 3-6pm. Christmas Eve hours end at 5pm.
