Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be all chocolates and pillow talk.  Sometimes nothing’s sexier than working up a sweat.  For all the active romantics out there, here are 5 unique Valentine’s Day options in Vancouver to get your pulse pounding and heart racing:

Snowshoe and fondue in the North Shore Mountain: Strap on snowshoes for a guided nighttime trek through the North Shore Mountains with your special someone.  Then descend on a mountaintop chalet or cozy cabin for apres-snowshoe fondue around a roaring fire.  Grouse, Cypress and Seymour Mountains all offer these romantic outdoor packages, at prices ranging from $50-$85 per person.

Ice Skate at Robson Square: Lace up and take your Valentine for a twirl on the ice at Robson Square.  Not only is this a consummately Canadian Valentine’s Day option, it’s also a cheap one.  Skating is free and rentals are just $4.

Try out partner yoga for couples: Share a yoga mat with your Valentine in these unique partner yoga classes.  Bend, stretch and massage together as you explore the true definition of yoga: union.  Workshops are offered Feb. 14 and Feb. 16 at YYoga ($40 per couple) and Feb. 15 at Semperviva ($49 per couple).  For more information, check out Contact Yoga.

Take a pole dancing workshop: Turn up the heat with an Intro to Pole Dancing, Pole Fitness or Burlesque class ($15 per person) at Vancouver’s pole dancing fitness studio, Tantra.  Run by pole dancing  champion and former Playboy model Tammy Morris, the classes are sure to kindle a fire for your Valentine’s Day.

Work up a sweat at Bloedel Conservatory: It’s always hot and heavy at Bloedel Conservatory.  Inside the enormous geodesic dome atop Queen Elizabeth Park, you’ll find a lush, balmy tropical forest, complete with free-flying exotic birds and a babbling brook. Walk the winding paths hand-in-hand and find a secluded bench to turn up the heat even more this Valentine’s Day.  Admission is $6.50 for adults.
