Wine, cheese and paintbrushes?

That’s the premise behind an unconventional resto-lounge in Vancouver’s historic Yaletown warehouse district. Pleasing both palette and palate, Raw Canvas offers diners an opportunity to eat, drink and make art.

Next to a casual dining room serving gourmet charcuterie is a unique “painting pit.” Guests are invited to don paint-splattered smocks, grab a fresh new canvas and unleash their inner artist. No experience is required. Emphasis is on creativity, self-expression and fun.

Of course, a little wine always helps get the inspiration flowing. Raw Canvas’s menu pairs a selection of exquisite reds and whites with hard and soft cheeses and artisanal meats, everything from elk-and-juniper salami to quail-and-pair terrine. There’s also an impressive array of craft beers from around the world, not to mention sakes, tequilas and whiskies.

With a bohemian-chic vibe, the lounge hosts live music and poetry readings throughout the week and is also popular for group teambuilding exercises (Nothing brings a team together like arts and crafts). For more information, check out the Raw Canvas website.

  1. Combining two art forms, art and food would make for one heck of a good dinning experience !
