This is hardly your average tea party.
You start with bites of Wagyu beef carpaccio and sesame-seared ahi tuna. Then, it’s on to exquisite TWG Tea-infused macarons, fresh baked scones and cherry crumble. And don’t forget to savor a spot of Royal Darjeeling Tea, French Earl Grey Tea or 1837 Green Tea.
Those are just a few of the offerings that make up the Signature Afternoon Tea Service ($48) inside The Urban Tea Merchant in downtown Vancouver. Since 2004, the elegant salon on chic Alberni Street (Vancouver’s “mini Rodeo Drive”) has been treating locals and visitors to one of the most refined tea experiences this side of London.
Tea-loving travelers seeking an afternoon pick-me-up will discover a sophisticated sanctuary from the bustle of the big city. The unique salon, with its elegant white linen tablecloths, boasts an incredible library of more than 250 loose leaf teas from fine purveyors TWG Tea.
Of course, the best way to experience their teas is with a formal tea service. Apart from the signature tea experience, guests can also enjoy a new Summer Garden Westcoast Service ($38). The seasonal offering features West Coast favorites like miso-glazed sable fish and seared tuna tataki, alongside gourmet macarons and other sweet treats. To beat the summer heat, the service can be paired with exotic Iced TWG Tea, from White Night Jasmine Tea to Orange Blossom Oolong Tea and Eternal Summer Rooibos Tea.
If you need a bit more refreshment, there’s even a unique array of tea-infused cocktails, like the matcha sour (with bourbon, lime and matcha) and the pink flamingo cosmo (with vodka, cranberry, lime and Pink Flamingo Tea).
