This Saturday, kick your workout up a notch by joining 1 School 1 Day. The charity event brings fitness fans together for a day of active fun, all while raising money for a good cause. Vancouver’s leading instructors will be teaching cardio, dancing, and yoga classes, and all proceeds will go towards imagine1day, a charity working to improve education in Ethiopia.
This year’s event will be held at the Plaza of Nations. The event kicks off at 9am with yoga, then a circuit class at 10:30am, followed by cardio boxing at noon and Bollywood dancing at 1:30pm. In addition to the fitness classes, there will also be a Fun Zone of sponsor booths and activities like pole dancing, skipping challenges, pull-up challenges and more.
1 School 1 Day was created in 2011 by Rob Tubajon who believed that the health and fitness industry could help facilitate change on a global level. And as a health conscious and active city, Vancouver was the perfect setting for 1 School 1 Day. Their goals this year are simple: to get 2,000 participants sweating while raising the money for a three year, self-sustaining community education project in Ethiopia. 1 School 1 Day hopes to unite the fitness community by working towards a common cause.
imagine1day is a non-profit organisation committed to improving education in Ethiopia. Believing that education is the strongest foundation of society, imagine1day works towards providing quality education to every child in Ethiopia. As Ethiopia is one of the ten poorest nations in the world, imagine1day’s goal is for all Ethiopians to have access to quality education funded free of foreign aid by 2030. So far, imagine1day has funded 123 primary schools and trained 1,700 teachers.
If you would like to join in the fun, register here for your class(es) of choice. Each class is $15. Bring some friends or meet someone new at yoga, circuit, cardio boxing, or Bollywood dancing, before browsing the booths in the Fun Zone. For more information, please visit 1 School 1 Day’s website.
