Love Greek food? Vancouver’s original Greek Food Festival is back this weekend where you can get your fill of souvlaki, dolmades, and baklava. But despite its name, the Greek Food Festival is more than just food. The 3-day long festival includes live entertainment, music and dancing, kids activities, and more.

The Greek Food Festival began in Vancouver in 1977 and has since become a popular annual event. The 3-day festival attracts thousands of visitors from all over the Lower Mainland, transforming the Hellenic Community Centre into a huge “glendi”, or a party or celebration filled with great food, music, and entertainment.

In addition to traditional Greek food and dessert, this year, the 36th annual Greek Food Festival will feature a Kid Zone on Saturday only, with carnival games, face-painters, balloon artists, an inflatable slide, and a dunk tank. As well, there will be Greek language lessons, wine tastings, and an agora marketplace with Greek souvenirs, artisan crafts, music, and books. Live entertainment includes dance groups and music with feature performances by Dromeno, a Seattle-based folk group that plays regional music from all over Greece and the Balkans. Between the food, entertainment, and fun, there’s sure to be something for everyone to get their Greek on. Opa!
