The Burnaby Village Museum is open for the winter season! Take a trip to the open-air museum and experience a heritage Christmas in the 1920s village. The museum comes alive for the holiday season with festive light displays and decorations, scavenger hunts, live music and entertainment, and, as always, carousel rides.
All the regular features of the museum, such as the carousel, will be open, but with added decorations for the holidays. Seasonal displays, Christmas wreaths, and eco-sculptures are just some of the decorations you will find strolling through the village. Christmas lights can also be found all over the village, illuminating the trees and pathways. As well, you can create your own magical holiday show with sound-reactive lights. Come up with a tune and watch over 400 lights twinkle and transform in response to your music.
For your entertainment, there is also a scavenger hunt based on The Twelve Days of Christmas, blacksmith demonstrations, a toy room, old-fashioned Christmas films, platen press demonstrations, a 1920s clothing display, a Model T truck photostop, and live music and entertainment. The live performances change daily, but some of the feature acts include choir performances, storytelling, and carollers. And if you get hungry, there’s always the Ice Cream Parlour for lunch, dinner, or snacks.
Heritage Christmas at the Burnaby Village Museum runs from now until Jan 3rd. Admission is free and carousel rides cost $2.21. For more information and for a schedule of performances, please visit the Burnaby Village Museum website.
