If you want to trade in the madness of the malls for the craziness of craft shows then you still have some time.
Whether you need to buy some jewels for your boo, some botanical body care items for your secret Santa at work or gourmet host-gifts for your Christmas party circuit, craft shows like Got Craft and Shiny Fuzzy Muddy have got you covered.
There are still a number of craft shows and sales taking place over the next two weekends from East Van to Abbotsford and points in between.
Shiny Fuzzy Muddy – Ceramic pendants, recycled cashmere mittens, and felted Christmas decorations are all for sale at Shiny Fuzzy Muddy. Eastside Culture Crawl fans will recognize some familiar artists. Heydey Design, Eikcam Ceramics and Astrosatchel/ Winterluxe are all on deck for the 10th year of Shiny Fuzzy Muddy’s Christmas sale. Blim Holiday Market – Another member of the 10 year club, Blim celebrates turning 3,650+ days old this year. This month’s installment of the Blim Market features snacks by Open Sesame and a cat Santa photobooth. Vintage goodies and local art and accessories are also on sale. Cost: By donation. Where/When: Chinese Cultural Centre (50 East Pender), December 14.
Craftacular 9 – Nestled in Beehive Hair Lounge, Craftacular will showcase some of Vancouver’s eclectic talent. A jewellery maker, a taxidermist, a beer/wine bottle repurposer and a whole lot more are attending this Monday evening craft show. Cost: Free. Where/When: Beehive Hair Lounge (3904 Fraser Street), December 16, 5:00 – 10:30 p.m.
Last Chance Craft Fair – This is literally the last craft show before Christmas. Open one day only with over 170 vendors. Cost: $5 or $4 with a donation to the Vancouver Food Bank. Where/When: Croation Cultural Centre (3250 Commercial Drive), Sunday December 22.
Furth afield, the Spruce Collective of vintage pickers and makers hosts the Urban Market in Abbotsford December 13 & 14th at the High Street Shopping Centre (3122 Mt. Lehman Road).
