The Canucks for Kids Fund SuperSkills Competition is back for another year of family fun. The event, hosted in partnership with Rogers, will take place on Saturday, January 11th, 2014 at Rogers Arena. The event will feature an alumni scrimmage and skills competition with past and present Canucks. It’s a great chance to see the Vancouver Canucks in a fun, casual, and carefree setting, as well as a great opportunity see the Canucks at a lower price point.
The fun begins at noon with the Alumni Game and concourse activities. Fans are encouraged to watch the scrimmage that will feature alumni Orland Kurtenbach, Dave Babych and Kirk McLean, and join in on concourse activities featuring Canucks mascot Fin and some of his mascot friends. Then, at 1pm, current Canucks players will take the ice to showcase their skills and agility in the Skills Competition, competing in challenges like Fastest Skater Contest, Accuracy Shooting Challenge, Breakaway Relay, Puck Control Relay, and Hardest Shot.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Canucks for Kids Fund and the NHLPA Goals & Dreams Fund. The Canucks for Kids Fund dedicates resources to helping charities that support children’s health and wellness, foster the development of grassroots hockey, and facilitate and encourage education in BC. Some of their core beneficiaries include BC Children’s Hospital, the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, and the Canucks Autism Network. Last year, the Canucks for Kids Fund SuperSkills Competition raised over $178,000 for charity.
