Ever wanted to play beer pong professionally? While beer pong may not yet be a major sport, a beer pong tournament is a step in the right direction. On Saturday, January 11th, 2014, The Lougheed Village Pub in Burnaby will be hosting a beer pong tourney with cash prizes. That’s right, you can play beer pong – the drinking game of throwing a ping pong ball into your opponent’s pyramid of cups – for money!
Presented by Canadian Beer Pong, the pre-season beer pong tournament will consist of thirty-two teams (sixty-four players). The tournament is played as a double elimination style bracket, meaning teams will play at least two games, and up to eleven games to win the whole tournament. The winners will walk away with $1000, with $300 for second place and $200 for third place.
So if you’d like to take your beer pong skills pro, sign up for the Beer Pong Tourney at the Lougheed Village Pub. Find a partner, practice your wrist flicks, and register to play in the tournament through Eventbrite. You must be 19+. Unfortunately, due to liquor laws, all beer pong games must be played with water, though a beer and food special for the day will be offered.
