First day of spring sees furry mascots hugging to support the Food Bank!
On the first day of spring, cute, furry, and gregarious animals will be waking up from hibernation and giving out hugs to Vancouverites. Spring Advertising will be unleashing the animals/mascots at various locations across the city as part of Hugs for Hunger, a fundraiser to help the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society.
The event also gives Vancouverites a chance to share a warm, spring hug after a long, dark, rainy winter.
For every hug, Spring will donate $1 to the Food Bank. More valuable hugs, such as those on the Celebrity Hug Hit List, are described on www.HugsForHunger.com and on Twitter @springad. People can also donate through on-site Food Bank volunteers or the Hugs for Hunger website.
The hashtag #HugsForHunger will be used throughout the day to spread information and to attract the animals to specific downtown locations.
Every $1 donated enables the food bank to purchase $3 of nutritious fresh fruit, vegetables, and eggs.
Spring is typically a time when donations to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society fall drastically. Hugs for Hunger will raise funds to help the city’s most vulnerable citizens.
Five teams will be spread out across the city: at the Vancouver Art Gallery, in Gastown, the West End, North Granville, and outside the Vancouver Convention Centre.
All teams will meet at the Art Gallery at noon and at 5:30pm.
Thursday, March 20, 8:00am – 6:00pm. Rain or shine.
At noon and 5:30pm all five critters will be on site at the VancouverArt Gallery.
