The Canadian Art Foundation presents a gallery hop April 12. Art fiends and fairweather fans alike can take in a variety of exhibits, talks and tours – all free.
Stops along the way include the Vancouver Art Gallery as well as smaller locations like the Contemporary Art Gallery, Gallery Gachet and more. We have more details after the jump.
The day begins at the VAG (750 Hornby St). From 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., artists Colleen Heslin, Emily Hill, Jeremy Hof, Angela Teng and Elizabeth McIntosh will hold a public discussion about ideas within contemporary painting.
Throughout the afternoon, artists Laura Piasta, Eli Bornowsky and art writers Tatiana Mellema and Aaron Peck will lead guided tours through the city’s art scene. Tours include galleries in Gastown, Chinatown, Main Street and Great Northern Way. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with artists and curators.
There will also be a series of off-tour talks and events, including a public participatory event at Satellite Gallery (560 Seymour St.) and a talk by artist Kevin Schmidt at the Contemporary Art Gallery.
Also at the Contemporary Art Gallery (555 Nelson), Canadian Art Magazine will launch its latest issue at a reception from 6 – 8 p.m. Editor Richard Rhodes, tour leaders and artists will be there to celebrate the magazine’s Spring issue.
