This Friday, snowboarders and skiers who are fans of sliding down rails and spinning onto boxes are invited to Grouse Mountain for their bi-weekly Jam Over the City progression sessions. From 6:30pm until 8:30pm every other Friday, anyone and everyone is invited to take part in these fun bonding sessions that will push your skills to the next level.

If you’re not a snowboarder or skier, this is also a good time to check out some local shredders in their natural habitat, trying out new tricks and putting on a free show.

While in the past, the Grouse Mountain park jams used to be held as contests, this year the format is more about focusing on progression in the park. The sessions include free food (on certain days), new features, good vibes, and free swag for a lucky few.

Even if buttering, bonking and backsliding aren’t in your vocabulary quite yet, the Jam Over the City vibe is a friendly one, even for newbs. If you’re not quite ready to boardslide, just sit to the side and take in some of the tricks and get yourself stoked to try it yourself. Or, even if you don’t land anything and end up bruising your butt, it’s likely you’ll still have a great time.

The Grouse Mountain Jam over the City sessions will be held from January until March on the following days:

  • January 16, 2015
  • January 30, 2015
  • February 13, 2015
  • February 27, 2015
  • March 13, 2015
  • March 27, 2015

If you don’t think you’re ready to ride with the big guns, you could also take a terrain parks lesson from one of the helpful teaching staff at Grouse Mountain. Click here to learn more about their Freeride clinics.
