A new gaming experience is coming to Science World … with a few twists. For one night only, Science World will be transformed into the setting for The Super Villain, an experience that combines escape gaming with game-show-style challenges, July 24. But this isn’t for kids. It’s a licensed 19+ event for adults who “need to let off some steam and enjoy a night away from the pressures of adulthood.”

The night starts with teams of four-six people racing through a gauntlet of challenges spread throughout Science World and the surrounding Creekside area of False Creek. Competitors are pitted against one another in events ranging from “BubbleSumo” to “Giant Beer Pong,” as well as other competitions designed to test mind as well as body. After completing the challenges, teams proceed to the “evil lair,” where they do battle against the super villain dubbed “The Unknown.”

But that’s just the start. The first team to make it through this trial by fire gets to go onto the finale, loosely modeled after the hit Korean variety show “Running Man” (where groups must complete wacky, reality-TV-style missions).  Team members will suit up in special superhero gear for the final phase of the competition.

Everyone wins in the end, however, with an after-party at downtown’s Republic Nightclub to celebrate the capture of the Super Villain. Plus, all of this mayhem is for a good cause. Proceeds go to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Super Villain comes to Science World July 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Teams of four-six people can register now on the website.
