Win a Ticket to the Vancouver Maritime Museum’s ‘Arctic Gala’ on October 24 (value $300)

Arctic-Gala

Here’s something cool.

The Vancouver Maritime Museum’s first Arctic Gala takes place on October 24 at 7 pm.

Organizers have an incredible “journey to the North” planned with proceeds benefiting the Vancouver Maritime Museum and the goal of raising awareness of the history and issues of Canada’s Arctic.

The elegant stand-up reception will take place inside the Vancouver Maritime Museum in Kitsilano, in the exhibit area surrounding the St. Roch (the first vessel to complete the Northwest Passage from west to east) and throughout the museum.

The menu (catered by Edible Canada and Peake of Catering) will include tastings of exotic northern cuisine such as reindeer, elk, muskox, caribou, Arctic Char and smoked goose breast. Specialty alcohol, including the infamous Sour Toe cocktail, delivered specially from Dawson City and served in an ice luge, will also be on offer.

While roaming the museum after hours, glimpse the magical Aurora Borealis and enjoy live entertainment from the Dakhká Khwáan Dancers who are being flown down from Whitehorse specially for the event. There will also be a photo opp (and doggie cuddling opportunity) with sled dogs and champion musher Hans Gatt.

Guests also have the opportunity to bid on exclusive items in the live and silent auctions, including a 12-day boat trip through the Arctic, compliments of One Ocean Expeditions (approximate value over $22,000). Claire Martin (meteorologist, formerly with CBC) will MC the event.

According to Vancouver Maritime Museum’s Executive Director, Captain Ken Burton “We’ve gone all-out to make this fundraiser one-of-a-kind and extremely memorable. There will be lots of surprises …. you might even arrive to find yourself dusting real snowflakes off your shoulders!”

Tickets are $300 and include all food, entertainment and most alcoholic beverages. Click here to purchase tickets now.

The VMM has become a truly world-class museum and destination to learn more about our maritime heritage. The coverage and efforts to spread the news of the recent discovery of Franklin’s HMS Erebus vessel only helps VMM to establish itself as a leader in the field. Do not let the small footprint of this museum mislead you, there are loads of top notch exhibits to explore and learn from, all so very well designed and executed.

    BRAVO VMM!
I would be honoured to join this event. Sincerely, YL
