I celebrate Elvis’ birthday every year – and have for more than 20 years. It all started for me when my first year French teacher said she shared a bedroom with her sister growing up. Her sister lived and breathed Elvis – as a result, our teacher never wanted to see another peanut butter and banana sandwich again (Elvis’ favourite food). Being a cheeky student, my friend and I brought a cake to class on January 8th to celebrate his birthday then we did a puppet show with Elvis as the star – and so it went on for the full spring semester. We got the Elvis cookbook and never looked back! We’ve had birthday parties on January 8th ever since – the music makes it great! And what would Christmas be without Elvis’ classic White Album! I can’t wait to see the show!

After a road trip to Graceland, Elvis walked me down the aisle at the Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sadly, the marriage ended in tears, but my love of Elvis and his music pulled me through the dark times. I still celebrate his birthday and commemorate his death day every year. Long live the King!

I’ve dressed as The King three times for Halloween, played in a band for a tribute concert on the 10th and 20th anniversary of Elvis’ death, and narrowly missed attending a wonderful wedding in Las Vegas, with Elvis giving the bride away, due to a freakish snowstorm in December that prevented my flight from taking off. AND, I regularly treat myself to grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches, just like mama used to make li’l E.

  8. Kay

    Huge King fan!

Two weeks ago I was taken to an Elvis impersonator by a friend in his 70s when he found out I also was a fan. My friend was wearing 2 Elvis rings and told me stories of sneaking out of home as a teenager to hitch to the next town to see Elvis in concert. He also believes the spirit of Elvis is in him! I would LOVE to surprise Bob with Tickets to Return to Grace.

I have always love the music of Elvis, since I was a child. It was the only thing my mother and I had in common.

If I were to win a couple of tickets, I would like to go to the March 22nd show, and I would take a friend who loves going to all sorts of concerts, but who particularly likes the kind of bluesy rock that Elvis was so good at.

  34. Sunshine G
