The Northwest Horror Show brings some rare movies to Vancity Theatre (1181 Seymour St.) this weekend, April 22-24.

Billed as a “horror, cult, exploitation, and sometimes a little arthouse film festival,” this second edition features 35mm prints a secret closing night film, a special 40th anniversary screening of a deranged classic, short films and a special guest, actress Lynn Lowry.

The 2016 line up includes Lucio Fulci’s Zombie (1979, opening night), Maniac (1980), Night Of The Creeps (1986), and I Drink Your Blood (1970). There are also late night screenings of Street Trash (1987) and Cannibal Ferox (1981) and, marking its 40th anniversary, a screening of Pier Paolo Passolini’s Salo, or The 120 Days of Sodom (1975).

Night of the Creeps includes a Donald Trump lookalike.

According to the media release, each feature film is be accompanied by a grab-bag of short films from independent filmmakers, classic PSAs, and ads from the 60s and 70s. Trivia giveaways between films include various cult movies on Blu-ray or DVD, and onsite vendors will be plying their wares.

Special guests include Lowry, an actress who has appeared in the movies The Crazies, Cat People, and Shivers, as well as I Drink Your Blood. Lowry will be available all weekend for signings/photo ops and merchandise as well as a Q-and-A, following the screening of I Drink Your Blood. Director William Lustig (Maniac, Vigilante, Maniac Cop) will join the fun via Skype to talk a little bit about his film Maniac. Actor Tom Atkins will connect via Skype/phone for a Q-and-A following the movie in which he appears, Night of The Creeps.
