Always dreamed of fronting your own 80s tribute band? Yup. We get it dude. But even if that ship has long ago sailed, you can live vicariously through The Arts Club Theatre Company’s production of the Broadway musical, Rock of Ages, at the Granville Island Stage.

Running from June 16 to July 30, the plays appeals to pretty much everyone, whether you lived through your own bad perm and acid-wash jeans, or are just discovering how rad the 80s and its music really was.

Think classic rock and glam metal hits from bands like Poison, Journey, Twisted Sister, and Bon Jovi, which create the soundtrack around the story of an aspiring rocker with dreams as big as his hair, set in 1987.

“Rock of Ages is an unapologetically juvenile and recklessly sexy tribute to the metal/glam hair-rock culture of LA in the late ’80s,” says director Peter Jorgensen. “It has kick-ass songs that will titillate, thrill, and fill anyone who remembers the era with overwhelming nostalgia. We have an amazingly dynamic cast and totally rad five-piece rock band that is going to blow the roof off the theatre. Throw in a perfectly predictable love story, a couple of German real estate developers, and some jazz hands and you have an epic, hilarious, face-melting evening that ain’t nothing but a good time!”

Rock on theatre-goers. Rock on.

Tickets start at $29. Call the Arts Club Box Office at 604.687.1644 or purchase your tickets online.
