Healthy Fare At Vancouver’s The Fair at the PNE

Who doesn’t crave cotton candy, corn dogs and mini donuts when it comes to any summer fair out there? Fine for some, not so much for those with dietary restrictions, or just preferring healthier options.

The 2016 Fair now serves up some snacks and meals that address just that. Tossed Salads of Langley, BC has created deliciously fresh salads using locally grown produce, direct from Windset Farms in Delta, Richmond’s Fresh Point, and International Herbs in Surrey. Supporting local farmers, and making sure your tummy is only queasy from too many dizzying roller coaster rides at The Fair.

market fresh

Market Fresh in the Main Food line is serving dishes made from fresh, local and sustainable items, made daily in the PNE kitchen and with ingredients from the PNE Chef’s Garden.

booster juice

Always a favourite, Booster Juice smoothies are ideal thirst quenchers on a hot day, and much better for you than sugary pop or soda.

drink a fruit from a fruit

Fruit from the Fruit is fun. Fresh coconut, watermelon and pineapple beverages are served in their original shells. Think Gilligan’s Island meets PNE.

Glutenfree your way of eating? How do tacos and nachos sound? Chapula is a must-taste too; a freshly made crispy tortilla topped with either spicy beef or seasoned chicken, and fresh salsa, lettuce, and refried beans. Saltspring Noodle Bar is offering Thai style gluten free noodles too.

Lactose intolerant? Lemon Heaven does a dairy free frozen yogurt that you can fix up your way at the self-serve topping bar.

And just to make it super easy-peasy for all, the PNE says to look for the green “Healthy Option” stickers on the PNE.ca website and the menu boards onsite at the Fair.
