Bike the Night Takes a Tour through Kits this Friday

Bike bedazzling is encouraged!

Biking during the day is fun enough, but biking during the night has an added exciting element to it that makes it all the more fun. There are less cars, less crowds, and you feel like you’re alone in the city. It makes for a magical memory. Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself!

This Friday, September 16 HUB Cycling has organised a Bike the Night event from 6pm – 9:30pm to help others experience nocturnal Vancouver at its best – by bike. This official event replaces the now defunct Bike Rave that exploded in popularity over the last few years. (Although a few unofficial versions have popped up in its place).

This is a ride for the whole family from little ones to seniors. The car-free and easy route make this an ideal evening activity and you will support HUB’s work to make biking better while having an awesome time.

You’ll be joining thousands of people on bikes who will pedal the streets of Kitsilano and Shaughnessy, as well as the newly paved Arbutus Greenway.

Bike the Night does have a cover charge, so you’ll be paying around $25 to join the fun, but the fee comes with some added perks! Registration for the event includes:

  • 1 Entry to WIN an eProdigy Electric Bicycle
  • Free snacks at the start location from 6pm
  • Free basic mechanic services at the start location from 6pm
  • Gift card for a free flat repair from Reckless Bike Stores
  • Free Momentum Magazine
  • A fun and safe group ride (approx. 10k)
  • Support for HUB’s work to make biking better across Metro Vancouver

If you don’t want the party to end after the ride, 19+ participants are invited to enjoy the after party at the Manchester Pub (1941 West Broadway between Cypress and Maple) between 9pm and 11pm. Just show your Bike the Night wristband and you’ll be eligible for one free beer.

The route for Bike the Night starts and ends in Kitsilano, the easy route will be approximately 10 kilometres. The ride will begin in Granville Park (corner of Pine and 15th) and end in Connaught Park (near 10th and Vine). The ride will take city streets as well as a section of the brand new temporary Arbutus Greenway.
