Where to Go for Easter Brunch Buffet in Vancouver

Going out for Easter brunch has become a tradition for many in the city. My immediate family especially likes a gourmet buffet option, since there are always a variety of palates to please. Plus, a lovely spread of items–such as baked goods, salads, breakfast dishes, lunch offerings, and sumptuous desserts–makes the outing into a very special occasion for all.

There are many venues in the city holding buffet brunches this Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. Here are a few of my top picks:

Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar
The Sutton Place Hotel
845 Burrard Street

For years, I used to go to the buffet brunch at the former Fleuri Restaurant in the Sutton Place Hotel. While I was happy when Fleuri was transformed into Boulevard, I was disappointed to see their iconic brunch go. As a result, I was elated to see that Boulevard is hosting an exclusive buffet brunch service on Easter Sunday this year from 10:30am to 3pm. Billed as a west coast-style experience, the offerings will include house baked pastries (think butter and almond croissants), quinoa salad and heirloom beet salad, west coast paella, albacore tuna tataki, Oyama Sausage charcuterie, eggs benny, slow roasted prime striploin, and porchetta.

Oh, and don’t forget their decadent mini desserts. There will also be a special kids only menu with a take-home chocolate bunny. The buffet is $72 per person, $25 for children under 12. Reserve by phone (604-642-2900) or on-line.

Probably one of the most lavish and longest running buffet brunches in the city is the one held every year at the Pan Pacific Hotel. I’ve gone in the past and certainly was not disappointment in terms of the Easter festivities and the selection of food. You can expect the Easter Bunny to visit, face painting, a balloon artist, as well as elegant live music.

As for the buffet, you can start with a host of salads, like lychee and Asian pear salad with snap peas, endive, and toasted pecans, before moving onto charcuterie and the cold seafood station (eg beet juice marinated salmon gravlax with dill and Dijon mustard dressing). There’ll also be a sushi station, your favourite dim sum items (eg har gow and mini BBQ pork buns), an omelette station, carved striploin and Easter ham, and tons of hot entrees, like red wine marinated Fraser Valley duck breast with glazed baby beets.

The children’s station will have items like mac ‘n’ cheese and mini beef sliders. Desserts will range from New York-style cheesecake to a Callebaut chocolate fountain with fresh fruit, marshmallows, cake, and lady fingers. The buffet (10:3am to 2:30pm) is $85 for adults, $81 for seniors, $42.50 for children 6-12, and free for kids 5 and under. Call 604-895-2480 to reserve.

Glowbal TELUS Garden
590 West Georgia Street

Last year, my family went for Easter Brunch at Glowbal and had a lovely time. The venue itself is sleek and grandly impressive and the service impeccable. The event is billed as the Glowbal Group’s signature 100+ item brunch buffet, which means yes, there will be over a hundred different items for you and your hungry group to choose from. In other words, come with your appetite. The offerings will include fresh salads, all sorts of pastries (eg mini croissants), eggs benny, omelette stations, fresh seafood like jumbo prawns and crab legs, other brunch items (eg eggs and bacon), carving stations, and tons of mini desserts. Last year, there were skewers from the robata grill that were particularly delicious. Glowbal Group also runs Nosh, their patisserie division that makes their own pastries and desserts, so expect fabulous last course selections. The buffet is $49 per adult, and $22 for children under 10. Call 604-602-0835 to reserve (seating from 10am onwards).

Situated on picturesque and lively Granville Island, Dockside is the perfect location for enjoying Easter buffet brunch, with panoramic views of False Creek showcased by their floor-to-ceiling windows. This year’s brunch buffet features over sixty items, starting with continental selections, like house baked muffins and Danishes. The chilled seafood station includes smoked sockeye salmon and smoked trout, as well as chilled mussels and prawns. Hot dishes include squash ravioli with san marzano tomato and basil sauce, grilled sockeye salmon, and carved slow roasted prime rib.

Breakfast offerings range from eggs benny to blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes. Expect tons of desserts as well, like mousse cakes and lemon meringue tarts. There are two seatings (10am and 1pm), with the buffet priced at $69.95 per person and children under 12 at $34.95.
