Anything Goes is the must-see musical of the season!

Anything Goes is on until April 23, and you don’t want to miss what could be the musical presentation of the year.

In the Vancouver Sun, Jerry Wasserman writes, “RCMT (Royal City Musical Theatre) does only one show a year. And boy, do they make it count. (Director and choreographer) Valerie Easton’s production at New West’s Massey Theatre has everything you could want in a big Broadway-style musical: a talented cast of 36, a slick 16-piece brass-heavy orchestra, a witty book, some great songs, imaginative direction and choreography, and principals who can sing, dance and act comedy.”

Based on the songs of Cole Porter and with a book partially written by great English comic writer P.G. Wodehouse, Anything Goes is on now until April 23 at the Massey Theatre (735 Eighth Ave, New Westminster).

In the Tony Award winning musical, one-time evangelist turned naughty nightclub star Reno Sweeney (Madeleine Suddaby) is en route from New York to England on the ocean-liner S.S. American. Her pal Billy Crocker a lovelorn Wall Street broker, has stowed away to be near his love, Hope Harcourt. But Hope is already engaged to the wealthy British aristocrat, Lord Evelyn.

Joining this love triangle on board the luxury liner are a second-rate con man, Moonface, AKA Public Enemy #13, who is a gangster fleeing the law by pretending to be a priest; and his sidekick-in-crime Erma. With the help of some elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors and good old-fashioned blackmail, Reno and Moonface try to help Billy who winds up pretending to be a sailor (and later a gangster) in his quest to win Hope’s heart.

“I have always loved Anything Goes,” stated Valerie Easton, Director and Choreographer. “It has an amazing score that will knock you out of your seat, and with tunes that you didn’t know you knew; and the best fun is to choreograph this tap dancing extravaganza. We are bringing a young and talented cast of newcomers that will dazzle you.”

Songs include “Anything Goes,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “You’re the Top,” “It’s De-Lovely,” “You’d Be So Easy to Love” and “Blow Gabriel Blow.”
