Although The Flash is racing towards its season finale, the show has been renewed for another season.
While two superhero TV series are wrapping up production this week, the good news is that some new productions will be coming to Vancouver over the next few months. And a lemony TV series kicks off in town today.
But let’s start off with some news for the legions of Deadpool fans.
The highly coveted role of Cable (also known as Nathan Summers, who is the son of the X-Men Cyclops) in Deadpool 2 has been one that numerous Hollywood actors have been vying for, with names like Michael Shannon (Man of Steel) and David Harbour (Stranger Things) reportedly making the shortlist.
As it turns out, the lucky man to win the role of the badass mutant warrior is Josh Brolin (Sicario).

The much-anticipated sequel shoots in Vancouver from June 19 to October 5.
The cast includes Ryan Reynolds reprising the wisecracking lead role, Zazie Beats as Domino, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Stefan Kapicic as the voice of Colossus.

While we wait for that one to get into gear, another upcoming production will bring notable international names to town.

Anna Faris (Mom) and Mexican star Eugenio Derbez (Instructions Not Included) will team up to star in a remake of the 1987 rom-com Overboard that’ll shoot in Vancouver from May 23 to July 14.
The original, directed by Garry Marshall, starred Goldie Hawn as a selfish heiress who winds up with amnesia after falling off her yacht. Kurt Russell played a struggling carpenter who exacts his revenge on her rude treatment of him by convincing her that he is her husband.

In the new version there’ll be role reversals, as Derbez will play a wealthy Mexican playboy who falls overboard but is convinced by a single, working-class mother (Faris) that she is his wife.

Another production on the way will be Season 3 of the TV series The Man in the High Castle, which starts shooting on May 17 and continues until October 17.
The alternative history series portrays a dystopian world that explores what might have happened had Germany and Japan won the Second World War.

The cast consists of Alexa Davos, Rupert Evans, Luke Kleintank, DJ Qualls, Joel de la Fuente, Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa, and Rufus Sewell.

Meanwhile, a TV series that starts shooting today is A Series of Unfortunate Events. Production on Season 2 will continue from today (April 17) until April 20, 2018.
Based on the book series by Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler), the series follows three orphans (Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes, Presley Smith) uncover dark family secrets as their guardian, Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris), conspires to steal their inheritance.

While superhero TV series have been slowly wrapping up over the last week, two more superpowered series finish up this week.

The Flash ends production on Season 3 on Friday (April 21), after starting last year on July 7.
Grant Gustin stars as the superhuman speedster Barry Allen/Flash, alongside Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh, and Jesse L. Martin.

The season finale may be racing around the corner but the good news is that The Flash has been renewed for a fourth season.

Meanwhile, Arrow ends shooting Season 5 on April 2, having started back on July 5 last year.
The action series stars Stephen Amell as the crimefighter Green Arrow, along with David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Paul Blackthorne, Emily Bett Rickards, Katie Cassidy, and John Barrowman.

The Season 5 finale will air on May 5, with a few cast members returing to reprise their roles, including Katrina Law as Nyssa al Ghul and Manu Bennett as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke (not to be confused, of course, with Marvel’s Wade Wilson/Deadpool).

But don’t worry, fans, for Season 6 is already confirmed.
In fact, series regulars Rick Gonzalez (Rush), who plays Rene Ramirez/Wild Dog; Juiana Harkavy (The Walking Dead), who plays Dinah Drake/Black Canary; and Katie Cassidy, who plays Black Siren, have all been promoted to series regulars for the next season.
