Filming in Vancouver: Chris Pratt to star in Cowboy Ninja Viking, cop comedy Take Two gets going

Chris Pratt is set to star in the action-adventure movie Cowboy Ninja Viking.

While we had a lot of action and thriller flicks filming in the city in 2017 with the likes of Deadpool 2, The Predator, and Skyscraper, this year is starting to show signs that things may be shaping up to follow suit.

In this week’s roundup of what’s going on in Vancouver’s screen scene, we take a look at a cop comedy TV series that gets underway today and a Hollywood blockbuster that’ll keep the action momentum going.

Vancouver-born filmmaker Michelle MacLaren will direct Cowboy Ninja Viking.

A big-screen adaptation of the graphic novel Cowboy Ninja Viking is gearing up to be shot in Vancouver this summer.

This action-adventure flick will be helmed by Vancouver’s own Michelle MacLaren (Game of Thrones).

Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) will star as Duncan, a man with dissociative personality disorder (more commonly known as multiple personality disorder). A counterintelligence government program transforms Duncan into a super-solider who possesses the skills of the three titular rough ’n’ tumble types.

The film is anticipated to begin shooting here in June.

The cast hasn’t been announced yet so we’ll have to wait and see which other big names the project brings to town.

However, there’s an even longer wait to see the final product: it’s slated for release on June 28, 2019.

Rachel Bilson

While we wait for that one, the police comedy TV series Take Two starts shooting its first season today (February 26) and continues until July 23.

Rachel Bilson (Hart of Dixie) stars as the former star of a police TV series who, fresh out of rehab, is eager to restart her career.

In preparation for a new role, she shadows a Los Angeles private investigator (Eddie Cibrian), who reluctantly allows her to do so but soon finds she has become an invaluable asset after she parlays her acting skills and experiences of playing a detective into cracking real-life cases.

The rest of the cast hasn’t been announced yet.

Well, that’s it—short and sweet—for this week but be sure to check back in with us again for what’s going on here on the streets of Hollywood North.
