Whether you’re after a green beer or a pint of Guiness or just a bowl of Lucky Charms, make sure you make an extra toast to the Emerald Isle next weekend to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Like last year, there won’t be a parade in Vancouver, but there are still lots of Celtic-themed events going on throughout the weekend.

St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated on Saturday, March 17, 2018 and there are lots of activities happening throughout the entire weekend. Check out some of the highlights listed below:

Family Friendly St. Patrick’s Day Events

St. Patrick’s Family Day Festival
March 11, 2018
from 11:00am – 3:00pm | Blarney Stone, 216 Carrall Street
Bring the whole family out for this one! Party from 11am-3pm with Irish Brunch, Guinness, and $5 Irish Caesars! Entertainment by Neezar the Stilts Walkers, Face Painting, Hula Hoop fun, and a Piper! St. Patrick’s Day at Lonsdale Quay
March 17, 2018 from 11:00am – 2:00pm | Lonsdale Quay, North Vancouver
Take a fun SeaBus ride over to the North Shore to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the Lonsdale Quay Market! There will be performances by the Eire Born Irish Dancing company, a friendly Lucky Leprechaun will then be visiting the Market to hand out gold coins and coupons! There will also be fun crafts, face painting, and balloon twisting. (More info)

The St. Patrick’s Day 5k
March 17, 2018 at 9:30am | Stanley Park Pavilion
St. Patrick’s Day doesn’t have to be all about the drinking! Register for the annual BMO St. Patrick’s Day 5k and put a little Irish in your step. Experience a flat and fast 5k course in scenic Stanley Park, and don’t miss the famous GIB After Party, good food, DJ, awards, costume contest, prizes, beer and more. The Blarney Stone’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival
March 17, 2018 from 9:00am – 4:00pm | Blarney Stone, 216 Carrall Street
Join the biggest annual St. Patrick’s Day party in the city, kicking off in the morning and going late into the night. Starting with an Irish buffet brunch, this indoor and outdoor festival will have Irish pipers, Celtic dancers, face painters, stilt walkers, and lots of prizes. Live music will play all day and night, featuring The Doolins, The Shenanigans, The Sheets, The Whiskeyjays and more. Tickets will only be sold at the door. (More info)

If it’s just beer you’re after, there are plenty of places to grab a nicely poured pint – green, Guinness or whatever you prefer. Many bars in town are featuring St. Patrick’s Day events, but if it’s an actual Irish Pub you’re after, try one of the local favourites. Some options include: Mahoney & Sons (Vancouver Convention Centre; 5990 University Blvd., UBC; 601 Stamps Landing, False Creek),  The Irish Heather (210 Carrall Street), Johnnie Fox’s Irish Snug (1033 Granville Street), Doolin’s Irish Pub (654 Nelson Street), and The Wolf and Hound (3617 W. Broadway).

Shamrocks & Shenanigans
March 17, 2018 for three shows at 7:30pm, 9:30pm, or 11:15pm | Improv Centre, Granville Island
Join Vancouver TheatreSports League for some Irish fun as they present three Irish-themed improv comedy shows. Bonus: Lucky Charm Leprechauns rove the Theatre bringing pots of golden laughs to all they encounter and Celtic Colleen will be improvising custom limericks for guests. The Dreadnoughts 11 Year Punkstravaganza
March 16 – 17, 2018 | Rickshaw Theatre, 254 East Hastings
The Dreadnoughts once again host two nights of local punk/folk/ska/metal at the Rickshaw on St. Patrick’s weekend before taking the stage themselves and pounding out their usual inebriated mayhem. $20/night, $30/weekend pass at Red Cat, Highlife, Zulu. (More info)

Annual WISE St. Patrick’s Day Bash
