Filming in Vancouver: Supernatural and The Flash wrap up—but with more in store

Supernatural, starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, has a whopping 13 seasons under its belt.

This week, two TV series call it a wrap—one of them is currently the longest-running series filming in the city at the moment while the other is one of several superhero shows shooting in town.

Here’s a quick look at what’s going on in Vancouver’s screen scene this week.

Jared Padalecki

The seemingly immortal Supernatural wraps up production on its lucky 13th season on Thursday (April 19). The latest season began shooting on July 12, 2017.

The fantasy-horror series follows the Winchster brothers (Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki) as they hunt down ghoulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties and all things that go bump in the night.

A Supernatural episode entitled “Scoobynatural” featured a crossover with…Scooby Doo!

This past season even included—yes, it’s true!—a Scooby Doo animation crossover in March that resulted in one of the highest ratings for the show this season.

This season also saw the return of the archangel Gabriel (Richard Speight Jr.), who was thought to be dead but was actually alive and imprisoned in Hell.

Supernatural

The Season 13 finale is scheduled for May 17.

But that’s not the end. As we previously mentioned, the good news is that the show has been renewed for a 14th season.

Meanwhile, another TV series that’s also wrapping up this week has been renewed as well.

The Flash finishes up shooting 23 episodes on Season 4 on Saturday (April 21), after beginning back on July 4 last year.

The Flash

In this Arrowverse series, Grant Gustin stars as the titular superspeedster and the cast also includes Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Kelynan Lonsdale, Tom Cavanagh, and more.

The season finale is scheduled for May 22.

Shooting dates for Season 5 haven’t been announced yet but the new season is expected to air in autumn.

Candice Patton

Elsewhere in the city, a new series entitled The Order, directed by David Von Ancken, begins shooting its first season on Wednesday (April 18) and continues until July 20.

Details haven’t been released for this one yet but we’ll share them when they do become available.

That’s it for this round of rounding up what’s coming and going from Vancouver so until our next instalment, happy star-spotting in Hollywood North.
