Granville Island – Vancouver’s food and craft hub and the home of the Granville Island Public Market – may be getting a major facelift in the near future.

A new report has just been released outlining possible changes coming to the island in 2016. Β That’s when Emily Carr University of Arts + Design – the island’s biggest tenant – leaves for its new home on nearby Great Northern Way.

Emily Carr’s departure leaves vacant two massive buildings in the heart of Granville Island along Johnston Street, totalling nearly 200,000 square feet of space, according to a detailed article in the Vancouver Sun by Daphne Bramham.

The new consultant’s report, commissioned by the island’s management group, proposes some sweeping changes for the existing space.

Chauffeured Craft Brewery Tours Hit Vancouver Streets

It wasn’t long ago that it was hard to find local craft beer in Vancouver. Β These days, not only are liquor store shelves stocked with microbrews but more than a dozen breweries and brewpubs around town are offering tastings and tours.

For beer lovers, this presents a dilemma: so much to drink, so little time. Β With great local breweries scattered across the city, it’s hard to visit them all – especially if you plan to sample their offerings and leave your keys at home.
